Kashawn Taylor is a formerly incarcerated writer and educator based in CT. He holds a BA in English and Psychology and an MA in English and Creative Writing. Before his incarceration, he established a strong academic foundation, which he has continued to build upon during his time in prison. His "prison writing" has been featured in several publications, including Prison Journalism Project, The Blotter Magazine, Minutes Before Six, Evening Street Review's DIY Prison Project, Indiana Review, Fugitives and Futurists, and by Querencia Press in its Summer 2024 anthology.
Taylor’s work has been or will be published in 2025 by such magazines and journals as Poetry, Sequestrum, Lucky Jefferson, Jelly Bucket, The Meadow, Midway Journal, and more. His collection of poetry, subhuman., is available now from Wayfarer Books, and other retailers.
He currently teaches Creative Writing 101 and Memoir Writing at Gotham Writers Workshop. Additionally, he is the 2026 Audience Engagement Fellow at Prison Journalism Project.
